The importance of good OST's in games

What is in the eyes of the OT people the imporantance of good music following you around in any type of game?
From the most heavy starcraft music to the most soft maplestory music, is there anything that you remember that really made the game for you in terms of music?

In the meanwhile a question for hemp, how does TQ feel about embracing some music for their upcoming game(s)?

My opinion is, music sometimes makes the games, not the other way around. Blizzard, Riot, Valve, ... all of em have great music in their games. Could this have added well to their success?

Discuss.

Ace Attorney series is well-known for its great OST.

Music in games is important, as it tends to make it more memorable.

Selling points?

Other than that, nothing much. Maybe create the 'atmosphere' for the game's storyline but that's all really.

Okay I meant coming up with your own OST's. An ost or two or something? I always felt conquer lacked in the musical department while it has so much added value. That naruto song rip as the stables song didn't help either.

I will have to agree, music is what keeps people hooked to a game. Aliens!!?!?!!

Gotta say wandering around and just entering a new stratum to just get mind-blown.

Going to have to start adding some good ots since gets kinda boring just playing with mute all the time. The only time its worth muting is around the x-mas season my eardrums are still recovering from then. >.>

I don't believe in-game music matters for these types of games. If people wanted music, they would just play their own, not listen to the music in-game. Hell, everyone I know just turns off the music for games that just repeat the same stuff over and over. Nothing will ever beat just listening to your own music, since you get exactly what you want.

latest history:
800+ hours on killing floor
1200+ hours on gw2

not once turned music off. Every time that world boss in gw2 lands, I even turn it up a notch because ... well... awesome is the only word that can describe it.

Well that's all well and good for you, but not everyone plays that way.

For me, if the game music was good, it never added anything to the game, but only made me appreciate the music. They are always separate things. I don't play the game for the music, just like I don't listen to the song and feel like playing the game. I play the game for the game, and listen to the music for the music.
Couple that with the fact that my music changes with my mood, so I rarely ever have any set list for music when I'm playing. Or if I'm just playing some random tv in the background. Just not that big of a deal for me.

Do keep in mind I'm talking about this type of game, the twitchy pvp shootemup click click click games. Certainly you have the more story driven or atmosphere reliant games, your Bioshocks, Amnesias, Final Fantasies, what have you. Music can give personality to things, sure, but not everything has the same need.

Then why have music in Conquer? why don't you start it with a system message that says: "Play your own music mother****ers".

Because.
Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer.

Besides, this game was made before I came. You're asking the wrong guy if you want to know what they thought when they made it.
