I didn't turn them on or off, I had asked a GM about it, and they were never meant to be on.
Mainly the ones that caused lag (I could think of a few people) were those that had 4 huge pictures in their signature, that caused the pages forever to load. Whenever (if ever) they implement the new forum, I believe IMG tags will be enabled.
