Core i7 4 GBs or Core i5 6 GBs

Which laptop is better in performance a core i7 with 4 GBs ram or a core i5 with 6 GBs ram?

Edit: they both have the same VGA (1 GB).

An actual Pc would be better. But the i7 with 4 gigs is the better performer here. If it has extra slots you could always add more.

The difference in price is not a big deal, it's something like 30-50 bucks.

Well, I might be using it for gaming and designing more than other stuff, wasn't higher RAM better for gaming and designing? (apart from the VGA)

If its a newer laptop chances are its triple channel memory so its really fast. You more than likely wouldnt notice a big difference from the 6 gigs.

The "i" series is made to be over clocked. So save yourself the bucks, go i5 with the more RAM, and over clock it, if need be.

Which would mean the i7 can be overclocked as well. So spend the extra and overclock it even higher than the i5.

Heres an article with with benchmarks for ram and how much difference it makes.

And another for the cores.

Your RAM will bottleneck that before the CPU does. Go with the i5.

a 32 bit process can use max 2 gb ram(if really necessary 3 gb) in windows. i dont see a bottleneck here.

i5 could be quadcore as well (depending on what i5 we're actually talking about).

In my opinion there is not enough information to decide which one is better.

I sensed the words 'laptop' and 'gaming' being used in the same thread.
