Cut it into 3 pieces and use a binary method of payment.

Bar 1-Bar 2-Bar 3=Day

0-0-0=0
1-0-0=1
0-1-0=2
1-1-0=3
0-0-1=4
1-0-1=5
0-1-1=6
1-1-1=7

He gets paid a bar each day, but sometimes you have to trade out. To compensate for this with the 2 cuts, the third bar would be biggest, then 2nd bar, then first bar as smallest.

Bar 1 = 1/7 of bar

Bar 2 = 2/7 of bar

Bar 3 = 4/7 of bar

I think I misunderstand your question.

Why can I not just put $100 in each of the 10 wallets, give you 5 wallets and say you have $500?
