Re: FL PIP

Purpose. To communicate procedures to adding PIP to all policies effective January 1, 2008

Background. Mid November letters were sent to all FL policy holders who did not have Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage on their current policy. These letters informed the client that PIP would be a mandatory coverage again on January 1, 2008, and we, Direct General, will automatically endorse PIP onto their policy. At the same time, if the client has Medical Expense (ME) coverage on their policy, it will be removed, unless they tell us not to. Clients are now starting to act on these letters and it has become apparent we need to clarify the procedures on how to process these.

Mandatory PIP. Effective December 15, 2007, we will no longer allow a policy to be quoted or bound without PIP coverage.

Automatic Endorsement.
December 20, 2007
· On December 20, 2007 if a policy does not have PIP, and the clients December payment was scheduled on or before December 20, 2008, an endorsement to add PIP will automatically be processed effective January 1, 2008.

December 26, 2007
· On December 26, 2007 if a policy does not have PIP, and the clients December payment was scheduled after December 20, 2008, an endorsement to add PIP will automatically be processed effective January 1, 2008.

PIP Endorsement Procedures.
Office/Phone Procedures to add PIP effective January 1, 2008 with no other change.
· Using the Sales Office Endorsement system, endorse the policy to add PIP effective 01/01/08 (if the client currently has ME coverage and they want it removed, do this at the same time).
· If a letter was sent to the client, the endorsement effective date is January 1, 2008 and the endorsement did not change anything other than PIP and/or ME, then the Sales Office Endorsement system will automatically load the down payment quoted to the client from the PIP endorsement letter. If the client wishes to pay more down they can.
· Make sure the client signs Personal Injury Protection Notice - Deductible Election form and it is scanned in with the endorsement paperwork.

I never knew that Florida didn't have PIP coverage on their policies!

learn a new thing everyday :D

I'd show you what I'm working on, but due to confidentiality and crap.. I can post this one thing tho ;)

I give my entire body. This choice indicates the desire to donate your body to science instead of being buried or cremated. Most medical schools provide a tasteful burial or cremation when a cadaver is no longer useful. You may still choose to be an organ donor also. (Please select one of the below choices.)
___ Medical-related school cadaver ___ Body farm ___ Either
